About Captain Scott's Lobster Dock

Let me introduce you to Captain Scott's Lobster Dock, a laid-back seafood restaurant sitting right on the New London waterfront at 80 Hamilton St, New London, CT 06320, United States, where the smell of the harbor and the sound of boats instantly set the mood. When people ask me where to go for honest seafood that feels local and unpretentious, this spot is always the first thing that comes to mind, because it blends classic dockside charm with a menu that truly speaks for itself. The vibe here is casual and welcoming, making it just as easy to swing by in shorts after a walk as it is to settle in for a relaxed meal with friends. Captain Scott's Lobster Dock is known for comfort food done right, especially if you love seafood that tastes fresh, simple, and satisfying without unnecessary extras. Outdoor seating is a big draw, letting you enjoy your meal with open air and waterfront views, while the dine-in experience keeps things friendly and efficient without feeling rushed or stiff. If you’re short on time, takeaway and delivery options make it easy to enjoy the same flavors wherever you are, which is something I often recommend to visitors staying nearby. The drink menu rounds things out nicely, offering beer, cocktails, wine, and spirits that pair well with the food and naturally extend the relaxed, dockside feel. I like how the place doesn’t try to be flashy; instead, it focuses on giving guests a reliable seafood restaurant experience where quality and consistency matter. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual bite, grabbing something to go, or meeting friends for drinks and comfort food by the water, this restaurant feels like a genuine part of the New London scene, the kind of spot locals recommend without hesitation and visitors remember because it feels authentic from the moment you arrive. I often point out how the relaxed service options and solid drinks list make it easy to linger, chat, and enjoy the dockside rhythm without feeling rushed.

Def tucked away little gem for sure! Ignore the scenery while getting there…trust the GPS and my review! I am not a fish person but the FISH AND CHIPS look amazing and people rave about it! Parking is plenty and always expect a line We have been here multiple times and zero issues. Lines are fine which means high turn over! FISH IS FRESH! My wife got the fish and chips as well as a shrimp cocktail and she could not stop talking about! I just got a cheeseburger and hot dog…all cooked well! They did mess up our order WHICH IS FINE bc they were slammed and they are human. They handled their mess up in a timely and professional manner. I treated them with respect and they gave it right back. This is a nice place to eat and hand before you jump on the ferry back to the island! They also serve ice cream which looks great but we never have room

I had a lovely lunch here with my father. We ordered a garden salad with lobster and fried calamari. We enjoyed sitting outside and looking out to the harbor. The food was tasty, but there were few gluten-free options. The service was a bit slow but good overall. We walked here from the train station, which was a bit tough but well worth it. The location is convenient, with plenty of parking, excellent restrooms, and a lovely gift shop.

Its always great when traveling and you stumble into a wonderful culinary experience. Captain Scott's provided that. I loved the setting by the docks with a view looking west over the boats and docks. But the real star was the fresh food! I ordered NE Clam Chowder and Fish and Chips (Cod). The cod was flakey and perfect! If you are still hungry there is delicious ice cream, and big pieces of pie. I highly recommend trying any of their seafood. It all looked delicious.
